Tim Pepper latest News Release states, Help Us Get To Durban: I’ve taken it upon myself to do whatever it takes to get me and my blues playing buddy Jordan Baron across the ocean this October (2nd-7th) to play the 2012 Durban International Blues Festival. I attended the first ever DIB festival a few years ago and it was incredibly inspiring and influential for me as a budding musician so it would mean a lot to me to be able to play it. The two of us are working up a set of the best Tennessee-blues you ever heard.
A few days ago I sent a message to Tanya Van Agtoven-Marais, the publicity director for the festival. Tanya and I sipped coffees together back in the day and she helped me book some shows when I was a newbie to the Durban music scene. She was always eager to discuss music and share whatever helpful advice she had at hand. Anyway I sent out a feeler, asking if she thought there was a possibility of getting myself and Jordan on the bill. She replied asking for our bios and some sound files and what not. So we are holding thumbs.
In the meantime I’d like to follow some advice my brother once gave me. He said, “It’s the squeaky wheel that gets the oil”. So in that spirit I’m asking everyone I know in KZN, South Africa to send a polite message to Tanya and Will (program director for the festival) and request that they select Tim Pepper and Jordan Baron for the festival this year. If you have some music loving friends in the KZN area perhaps you could pass this message on to them.
